UC Berkeley Wheeler Hall

Constructed in 1917, Wheeler Hall is one of the most significant historic buildings on the UC Berkeley Campus. SKA assisted the University with a thorough building assessment and helped develop a budget for the $20-million renewal project. The scope of the project includes infrastructure upgrades, such as the mechanical and electrical system, and rehabilitation of the exterior envelope.

The project also included the renovation of existing classrooms. Some smaller classrooms were combined to create classrooms sizes that were in demand on campus. On the second floor, four smaller classrooms were combined to create a 100 seat SCALE-UP (Student Centered Active Learning Environment for Undergraduate Programs) classroom, an active learning environment where students are encouraged to interact and solve problems while the instructor circulates the room to assist students.
