San Francisco Fireboat Station 35

San Francisco, CA | Public Safety

San Francisco Fire Department’s new Station 35 will accommodate three fire suppression boats, a dive boat, and a marine rescue craft. The station will be constructed on top of a floating barge to provide safe and immediate access to the fire boats, irrespective of the tide or sea level rise due to global warming. In addition to accommodations for eleven full-time personnel, the station includes a Maritime Disaster Operations Center, a large multi-purpose Bosan/Ambulance room, shops, and boat and dive gear storage. The new floating station will be situated adjacent to the existing historic fire station and will be connected by vehicular and pedestrian ramps. The new station has been designed “of our time” yet will be respectful of the existing station and other buildings within the Embarcadero National Historic District.
