The Visual Arts and Design Center represents the collective educational vision of the University’s Art, Architecture and Art History Departments. The project encompasses the renovation of three existing buildings utilized by the School of Art and Architecture and provides a new 204,000 square foot facility which houses a new library, faculty and administration offices, sculpture studios and a new art gallery for the University. The project was designed by Fumihiko Maki of Tokyo, Japan.  Shah Kawasaki Architects was the Architect of Record.
