Philip Luo Joins Shah Kawasaki Architects as a Principal

We are pleased to announce that Philip Luo has accepted our offer to join Shah Kawasaki Architects as a Principal. Philip brings insight from 23 years of experience across a range of building types in both the public sector and the private sector.

Experienced in managing projects from $3 million to $300 million, Philip shares SKA’s vision of client-centered design and project delivery. Philip was the Project Architect for the Sam Fox School of Visual Arts and Design, an award winning project designed by Fumihiko Maki. Prior to joining Shah Kawasaki, Philip’s notable projects include CREATE, named 2013 Laboratory of the Year by R&D Magazine; the Regional Transit

Development Bus Maintenance Facility in Stockton, CA, and 3COM’s Asian Pacific Headquarters in Singapore, a research and development and manufacturing facility. Currently, Philip is managing the UC Berkeley Wheeler Hall Renewal, Alameda County’s Probation Transition Center, and various other design projects.

Philip received his Masters of Architecture and Bachelors of Art in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley. He is a registered Architect in the State of California and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). A LEED Accredited Professional and member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), Philip’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond LEED Accreditation. He is a strong advocate for the use of energy and daylight modeling in the design process. At SKA, he leads the sustainable design initiative to promote sustainable design in our practice through software training and educational programs.
