Bailey Phoenix

Designer/Marketing Coordinator

Born and raised in San Jose, Bailey brings a deeply personal understanding of the Bay Area’s evolving urban landscape to their work at Shah Kawasaki Architects. After spending much of their adolescence exploring the region, they became increasingly aware of how the built environment shapes daily life, access, and belonging. They earned their B.A. in Architecture from Brown University in 2024, where they developed a design perspective rooted in community, accessibility, and lived experience.

Inspired in part by their mother’s physical disability and the challenges of inaccessible public spaces and housing, Bailey believes architecture should serve as the foundation of a community, reflecting its people in both form and function. They enjoy collaborative work, thoughtful problem-solving, and throwing themself into new experiences.

Outside the office, Bailey can often be found writing poetry, online shopping, or concocting new cocktail recipes, usually with their cat Taki in their lap.
