The following job positions we are trying to fill:

Are you interested in joining an award-winning firm small enough to participate in all aspects of design and management, large enough to take on significant civic and institutional work, and committed to the professional growth of each employee?  We’re looking for an architectural staff member with 3+/- years’ experience who wants broad exposure to all aspects of architectural practice from design, technical documents to construction administration.  This position will give the applicant the remaining experience required for an architectural license (ARE).  If this interests you, this is a job for you.

Embedded in Oakland since 1999, SKA has achieved healthy and steady growth because of the talent, commitment, intelligence, integrity, and solid professional skills of its staff. Today, with a staff of 15, SKA is one of the Bay Area’s leading design firms with an excellent reputation for the projects that are sustainable and integral to our communities — from visitor centers, community centers, and fire stations; to educational, workplace and other civic buildings.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of professional experience.
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Committed and on track for licensure.
  • Professional Degree in Architecture
  • Solid design-oriented perspective, skills, and goals.
  • Proficient in digital technology (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch up, 3D visualization, MS Office, Google Apps)
  • Cooperative and collaborative attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Principals and Project Architects in preparing design and technical documents.  Assigned to project from initial concept through completed construction.

Our employees thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working together.  We are in Oakland’s old-town adjacent to the 12th Street BART station.    We offer health and dental insurance, 401(K) match, profit sharing, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and educational/financial/time assistance for licensing/LEED accreditation. Unlimited access to Black Spectacles.  Hybrid work schedule.

To apply, please email your resume, portfolio examples, and a cover letter with “Aspiring Architect” in the subject line, to Architect@skarc.com.  US/Canadian citizens or green card holders only, please.  Qualified applicants will receive notification of receipt.
